CAREC Presidency 2022 – The People’s Republic of China
The CAREC Program is chaired by its member countries. Every year, one country assumes the overall Presidency of the Program and leads the program activities. In 2022, the CAREC Program is chaired by the People’s Republic of China (PRC). PRC joined the CAREC Program in 1997 and promotes greater connectivity as a way to drive growth and reduce poverty in Eurasia’s vast landlocked interior. As the PRC works together with CAREC partners, increased trade is creating more jobs and economic opportunities for all CAREC countries. As of 2019, CAREC has invested more than $1.56 billion in the PRC. The projects are improving policies and infrastructure promoting connectivity between CAREC countries and global markets. The CAREC Presidency rotates on an annual basis and in alphabetical order. The next country chairing the program will be Georgia through the calendar year 2023.
