Jan Aengenvoort

Jan Aengenvoort studied humanities (M.A. in history) in Cologne, Bonn, Kabul, and Paris. He joined Next Kraftwerke in 2011. Since then, he helped to grow the then small startup to one of Europe’s largest Virtual Power Plants with more than 150 employees. The Virtual Power Plant Next Pool networks decentralized energy producers as well as large-scale power consumers and storage units with an aggregated portfolio of 7,000 megawatts. Today, Jan Aengenvoort heads the Communications & Market Research Department for Next Kraftwerke as CCO. He has published intensively on topics related to grid and market integration of renewable energies as well as given lectures and key notes at international energy conferences. He is an expert on the European VPP market with a keen interest to broaden his knowledge to cover overseas energy markets as well.
