Nargis Wieck

Director, German Energy Agency

Graduated from the State University of Vienna / Austria and the European Management Academy Bonn/ Germany, Nargis Wieck holds a diploma in international business economics. During her career of about 20 years, she specialized in project development and consulting services in the energy sector with a focus on Russia, Central Asia and Middle East.

Nargis joined dena in 2009 as project director for international cooperation. Her major responsibilities include the development of business areas as well as the development and implementation of concrete projects on energy efficiency and renewable energies in Turkey and Central Asia (esp. Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan). Nargis has worked in leading positions in more than 20 dena projects, e.g. on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economics and Technology, the KfW Development Bank and in cooperation with renowned German companies like e. g. Siemens, Voith, BASF, Wilo, Viessmann and others. Projects mostly related to contributing to the strategic energy partnerships of the German government with other countries, consulting governments on the modernization of their energy sectors (e. g. for the government of Tajikistan and government of Kazakhstan, incl. the development of legal and regulatory frameworks for the promotion of and investment in renewable energy sources and energy efficiency), assignments in political committees (e. g. in the German-Russian Strategic Working Group on Energy), and initiating sustainable projects with involving relevant stakeholders in the countries mentioned above on energy efficiency, efficiency analysis, the increased use of renewable energy solutions in the industry and in buildings and financing models (e. g. on behalf of the German and Kazakhstan governments as well as of companies in both countries).

Before, she worked in the energy sector for companies like Linde Kältetechnik GmbH (Cologne/ Germany) in the sales management as well as in the marketing management of ZAO Business Center MWD (Moscow/ Russia).

For many years then, Nargis was in charge of developing and implementing projects on the promotion of business cooperation (in the energy sector among others) in Middle and East Europe at the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations (Ost-Ausschuss der Deutschen Wirtschaft) in Berlin before becoming head of division at Commit GmbH (Berlin). There, Nargis managed the acquisition and implementation of various projects in Ukraine, Central Asia and Caucasus funded by third-party stakeholders. She also advised German companies (mainly from the energy sector) regarding market entries and the initiation of business contacts in the abovementioned regions.
