Shantanu Chakraborty
Shantanu Chakraborty is the Director, Infrastructure Finance Division 1, in the Private Sector Operations Department (PSOD) at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) based in Manila, the Philippines. He has been with ADB for over 13 years. His current responsibilities include managing a team of approximately 14 investment professionals, responsible for origination and execution of infrastructure and project finance transactions in South and Central Asia, with a delivery target of $ 800 – 900 million annually.
Prior to his current assignment, he was Director of the Private Sector Transaction Support Division in PSOD, which provides support to origination divisions in areas of safeguards, guarantees and syndications, development effectiveness, interity due diligence and technical assistance. His earlier roles in ADB included being the Senior Advisor to the Vice President (Private Sector and Cofinancing Operations), providing strategic and operational support to the Office of the Vice President. He was a Senior Investment Specialist in PSOD in ADB, responsible for origination, execution and management of infrastructure projects in South and Central Asia. In this role, he gained significant experiance in projet financing in Asia and closed a number of financings in South and Central Asia. Overall, he has close to 20 years of Project Finance experience, primarily in emerging markets.
Prior to joining ADB, Mr. Chakraborty had almost 10 years’ experience in project finance and investment banking in India (with ICICI Bank) and the United States (with UBS Warburg and Landesbank Hessen Thuringen). Mr. Chakraborty has an engineering degree from BITS, Pilani, India. He also holds a masters in management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, India, and an MBA in finance from the Stern School of Business, News York University.
