Mr. Pierluca Merola

Pierluca Merola is a Policy Officer in the Energy Efficiency Unit of the Directorate-General for Energy of the European Commission. As part of the Energy Efficiency Financing Team, Pierluca is in charge of ensuring the coordination between the regulatory developments, policy objectives and the implementation of EU founding programmes in the area of energy efficiency and building renovation. Pierluca is as well in charge of the De-risking Energy Efficiency Platform – DEEP 2.0, the European Commission’s open-source database for monitoring and benchmarking energy efficiency investment performance. Before joining DG Energy, Pierluca worked in the Directorate-General for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations (NEAR) of the European Commission. Before joining the European Commission, Pierluca graduated in European Political and Governance Studies and worked in Brussels in public affairs and stakeholder organizations.
